gaspard

How’s everyone doing? Enjoying your day off? I surely have been catching up on much needed sleep, emails, and tidying up. This weekend has also been full of movie watching and buying. Blockbuster’s having a 3 for $20 deal on previously watched movies. It’s a good time to stock up and build your DVD collection - I don’t even have shelf room for mine anymore. Lovely.

I’ve also spent my weekend with R working on our Ultimate HOT Boys list which is now in an excel document (along with photos of course. What can I say, we’re visual people…). We’ve been adding names, taking names off the list, and spent the good portion of Saturday looking for photos worthy of adding to the master list. We, of course, have standards. Some names include but are not limited to: Casey Affleck, Justin Bertha, Christian Coulson, Jake Gyllanhaal, Ioan Gruffudd, James McAvoy, Cillian Murphy, and R and my current favorite Gaspard Ulliel (pictured above). You will remember Gaspard from such movies as A Very Long Engagement, Hannibal Rising, and more recently Paris J’Taime. He’s my “Guy I Would Marry On The Spot.” Sadly for Zach Braff, R has traded in for Gaspard too. There may be some blood shed before the day is done, but how could you let this one go? He’s French, speaks English with a British accent, oooh the dimples, and did you see “the guns” in Paris J’Taime? Needless to say, R and I are looking forward to our French lessons starting in June.

Of course, I didn’t spend all weekend going ga-ga over hot boys. I had some great design conversations with my pal Silk from Silk, Chintz, and Moire (check out the link on the right >>>>) and have come up with some great ideas for articles on their blog. So watch that space for some really entertaining articles and who knows? Mayhaps a guest post here or there… ;)

Now on to movie reviews. I’m going to keep this short and sweet and contrary to previous movie reviews, I’m not going to post screencaps for the mere fact that we shouldn’t distract from the opening image. *fans self* I can’t figure out what I like better… the couch, or the boy on the couch… tough decision. BUT… as I was saying… movie reviews:

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian: I wasn’t really looking forward to seeing this movie, but it’s one of those movies you just have to see because it’s The Chronicles of Narnia. I never finished reading the book though. I’m sorry to admit, I think the books are really boring, but I digress. I didn’t have much expectations for the movie so I liked it fine although I was pretty disappointed with the acting. I’m not sure if it’s because Peter and Susan aren’t suppose to have personalities (because I never found them to be even remotely interesting), but they were definitely out-shined by Lucy and Edmund (again, I just think their characters are more interesting). Also, the Susan and Prince Caspian subplot was cheese-whiz-tastic! Full of unbearable one-liners and awkward teenage love glances which climaxed to the most lame kiss in the history of movie kisses. I guess it didn’t help that Prince Caspian was wearing a dress and gaucho pants in the ending scene. We also saw the return of the White Witch (briefly) and when Edmund put an end to her evil doings, R and I fanned ourselves off and wished Skander Keynes was just 5 years older. The best part of the movie for me was new music from the awesometastique Regina Spektor. I thought it was the perfect ending to the movie, some of the Immi fans may want to throw stones at me now and call me a traitor but I only speak the truth.

Baby Mama: I thought the trailer was really funny but never got around to seeing this movie but me and P went Saturday night to catch a late showing. I will admit the jokes in the beginning felt forced and yielded awkward silence in the movie theatre, but as the plot progressed the laughs just got bigger and bigger. Steve Martin’s character was absolutely insane and his ponytail was the cherry on top. Amy Pohler stole the movie and there were some great cameos from SNL people. I’m not sure if this is something I would add to my DVD collection, but it was definitely entertaining.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: I welcome a new Indy movie gladly. It’s always great to see Harrison Ford kicking terrorist bum and of course the theme song gets stuck in your head for days after, but I think a lot of what the movie offers is nostalgia and it definitely plays on that. If it wasn’t an Indy film, I’m not sure I would have liked the movie at all. In fact, I would be picking it apart questioning plot decisions and so on and so forth but I think movie goers will agree that it was an enjoyable movie because it was an Indiana Jones movie. Although I will give big props to Cate Blanchette for never ceasing to amaze me. She rocks!!

*i can’t think of a proper title so i’m just using the title of the death cab song i’m currently listening to
