The hurricane’s coming and that’s a little scary, but I’m in Sugar Land with the family and we’re “hunkering down” as they keep telling us to do. I think we have enough food to last us through the end of the year. I do worry about the house in town, but last night K and I stuffed everything in the closets - especially my Eames racker which I am particularly worried about. Fingers crossed everything will be okay. I’ll try to keep things updated!!

If you’re interested, there’s a cool site called stormpulse that you can go on to track the storm.

Having a really shitty day that looks like it’s going to be bleeding into tomorrow.

Mayhaps this will cheer me up….

some movies to look forward to

g

Because I’ve finally found some time to catch up on trailers watching…

Real Time
The Brothers Bloom
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Flow
A Secret
Yes Man (only because Bradley Cooper is in it!)
Trouble the Water
Harold

Although nothing will be able to numb the ache in my heart about the postponement of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince … curses to you money hungry WB execs!

One of the best things about moving is you get to decorate! I will admit, I was getting quite frustrated with finding a place to live because all I wanted to do was pick colors and buy little things I didn’t need like jars of rocks and little porcelain bird figurines. Luckily K and I finally found a duplex (the cutest little duplex you ever did see) and we’re well on our way to moving in. September 1st in fact. I’ve already scheduled myself two full days of cleaning and painting and I can’t wait to take the before and after photos and throw our housewarming party (of course). In the meantime, I leave with the picture of my new couch. It was hard parting with all that money, but every time I think about that couch I get little butterflies in my stomach. It is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Now… would it be terribly geeky of me to name it?

P.S. In case you didn’t know already… I FOUND A PLACE TO LIVE! ;)

men’s spring 2009 - moschino

Simple, quirky, brilliant.

And you’ve gotta love a show that includes baguettes on the runway! Click here for more of the Moschino collection.

men’s spring 2009 - hermes

I’m digging Hermes’ spring ‘09 collection. Lose, comfortable, and just a hint of vintage luxury.

You can view more here at the GQ website.

Because we all love Harry Potter, but don’t want to have to sneak into The Mummy 3 to catch the trailer….

You can download a HiRes version of the trailer on MovieFone here.

me time

sunday morning

I’ve been working a lot, how about you? Not that I’m complaining … but “me” time is very important. Yesterday, during my lunch break - as I was scarfing down some food while inputting some drawings into the computer - R and I actually calculated the “me” time I actually had a day. Here’s a typical Monday in the life of Tiff:

We’ll start with 24 hours
- 9 hours for work (includes automatically assumed overtime on a good day, more on a busy day)
- 1 hours to get ready for work in the morning
- 1.5 hours approximately for travel time to and from work
- 1 hour for lunch
- 2.25 hours for French class (includes travel time from work to the Alliance Francaise and homework doing)
- .5 hours for MySpazing, etc. duties for Immi
- .75 hours for dinner
- .5 hours for misc. work that needs to be done, i.e. budget reports, paying bills, etc.
- 6.5 hours of sleep (this definitely needs to be more)
______________
That gives me a grand total of roughly 1 hours of ME time a day.

That’s time to write blogs, send emails, read books, and general me taking care of. I definitely think that number needs to be higher. There’s no more important resource than yourself, well.. except maybe diamonds, but I digress. This must be why Americans are so stressed out and why I had to yank out 5 white hairs from atop my head the other day (I know, I know… R says, “Don’t pull them out! For every one you pull out, 6 come to the funeral”). Is it too much to ask for a little more me time? When else will I be able to find the time to brutally criticize new music like the monstrosity that is Scarlett Johansson’s album?

Needless to say, the picture above is from the archives. I don’t even have time to take photos of feigned leisure! So how many hours of me time do you have?

darkest hour

Waiting I’m
Waiting to hold nothing cause
Everyone knows nothing’s much easier to touch

So I want,
I tried for a love
That buried me under his shrug
No one sees or cares if I’m on my

Closet floor
Shh there’s something
Outside my door
Making a little heat
It’s getting warm

It said ‘even in the darkest hour you shine’
It said ‘even in the darkest hour you shine’

Loaded on
Layers and coats
Try to stand up, oh there I go
Down again
God it has been so long
Now I am marching in place
Pretending to say this all to his face
But you know, my guts they may never come

I shake, shake from holding back
Someone’s trying to get me back on track from my spiral

You know even in the darkest hour we shine
You know even in the darkest hour we shine
It’ll save you when no one will ever try

And I got answers super-glued under my knees
You know you gotta get me, out o’mye eye eye roooom
Outta my my my roooom

And off my closet floor
Shh there’s something outside the door

Making a little heat
You’re getting warmer now..

And even in my darkest hour you shine
Even in my darkest hour you shine
Even in my darkest hour you shine….
